microteaching lesson plan

 Group members: Yikang Helin Juma

Topic: The Sine Law

Subject / Grade: Foundations of Mathematics 11

Duration: 10–15 minutes

1. Objectives

 Identify what is and when to apply the Sine Law.

 Use the Sine Law to calculate missing sides or angles in non-right triangles.

2. Materials / Resources

 PowerPoint presentation (“Sine Law”)

 Whiteboard and markers

 Calculators

3. Instruction flow

Introduction (2 min):

 Recall prior knowledge of right triangle trigonometry (SOH).

What is Sine-Law (3 min):

 Introduce the Sine Law formula and how to get it from the basic definition of

SOH:

Demonstrate Example (5 min):

 Demonstrate through a sample problem (triangle with angles 80° and 55°,

side 12 m).

 Guide students through one Elizabeths’ solution.

Practice (5 min):

 Provide a new problem (“Try another one”) for students to solve in groups

 Review solution briefly with group.

4. Assessment

Formative: Observation of student engagement, participation, and problem-solving

accuracy.

Criteria for Success:

 Students correctly identify when to apply the Sine Law.

 Students solve for missing sides or angles using the correct formula.
